Primary Flag Design Competition

Drapers’ Multi-Academy Trust is proud to be taking part in the Lady Mayor’s Show 2025. A particular highlight in our preparations this year has been the wonderful collaboration across our Trust, with contributions and enthusiasm from every corner of our community.

During the Summer term of 2025, we launched a Trust-wide flag design competition. Primary pupils were invited to create an A4 hand-waving flag that celebrates both Harold Hill and the Drapers’ Multi-Academy Trust. With over 100 creative entries, shortlisting was no easy task!

The final designs were judged by the future Lady Mayor, Dame Susan Langley DBE, who selected a winner and a runner-up.

The winning flag was designed by Adeline, then a Year 6 pupil at Drapers’ Pyrgo and now a proud Year 7 student at Drapers’ Academy. Adeline’s design will be brought to life as hand-waving flags at the Lord Mayor’s Show, symbolising creativity, pride, and achievement across our Trust.

Reflecting on the winning design, Dame Susan Langley DBE commented:

“The design beautifully represents Harold Hill – celebrating nature and bright horizons.”

The runner-up design was created by Ariyana, a Year 5 pupil (now Year 6) at Drapers’ Brookside Junior School. Her imaginative artwork greatly impressed the judges. Dame Susan Langley DBE praised the design’s thoughtful details — the blue and gold colour palette, the crowns inspired by the Trust’s emblem, and the sheep symbolising the Drapers’ Company.
