Trust Primary Pupils Join Historic London Sheep Drive
Back to Latest News
Pupils from across the Trust’s primary schools attended London’s annual Sheep Drive in London, a centuries-old tradition that continues to capture the spirit of the City.
Each year, thousands gather to watch 50 sheep guided across Southwark Bridge, a symbolic re-enactment honouring medieval sheep sellers who once drove their flocks across London Bridge to market. The event pays tribute to the City’s rich heritage and to the farmers whose trade helped build its prosperity.
At the special invitation of our sponsors, the Drapers' Company, our pupils joined the festivities with front-row seats. The visit was made even more memorable with an invitation to the magnificent Drapers' Hall, where they enjoyed a celebratory lunch and were treated to a lively magic show.
A highlight of the day was the chance to meet the Master of the Drapers' Company, pictured here with pupils outside Drapers’ Hall. The experience offered our children not only a glimpse of London’s living history but also an opportunity to connect with the traditions of the livery company that continues to sponsor and support our schools through the Drapers' Multi-Academy Trust.
The event was a wonderful blend of history, community, and celebration - an experience the pupils will not soon forget.
