Year 9 pupils visit the Globe Theatre

Fifty Drapers' Academy Year 9 pupils and staff visited Shakespeare’s Globe on Tuesday night to watch an amusing and lively performance of Twelfth Night.
The Academy English Faculty continues to be proud to be part of the Playing Shakespeare project for the third year running.  The project, run by the Globe and Deutsche Bank, supports the teaching of Shakespeare in the national curriculum with workshops and the staging of a 100-minute version of a Shakespeare play at The Globe each year, created especially to be engaging for young people.
For many of the pupils, this was their first experience of a live Shakespearean drama and they all had a fantastic evening. They were somewhat surprised when Sir Toby Belch and Sir Andrew Aguecheek performed the popular song, ‘whip nae nae’.
