WE Day 2016

On Wednesday 9th March the school council and Mrs Kennedy from Drapers' Brookside Junior School had a very early start to the day as they headed for the Wembley SSE Arena for the WE Day 2016. WE Day is an opportunity to celebrate young people who have made a difference to their local community.
After the two and half hour journey all of the pupils were full of excitement for what was sure to be a fantastic day. Once in the stadium the pupils became a part of the 12,000 change-makers, who were all in attendance to celebrate their collective impact. As soon as the show begun they enjoyed performances from global superstars including Fleur East, Labrinth and Revelation Choir. Award-winning actress Marlee Matlin was also in attendance as she delivered an inspirational speech in sign language. Rita Ora delivered another powerful message to the crowd, as she spoke about the current refugee crisis and how we have an opportunity as a country to make a positive difference to their lives. There were plenty of other speeches that took place including Princess Beatrice and a special video message from Kate Winslet. The entire day left all of the pupils inspired and ready to continue to make a difference in their local community.
